Having won the event numerous times, the Wallace State cross country team is a perennial favorite at the Alabama Community College Conference championships each year. In 2007, Wallace State-Hanceville’s Michael Chapa claimed the Alabama Community College Conference men’s individual cross country championship. Wallace State’s Thuom Mathiang finished runner-up in the event, and the team finished runner-up. Chapa and Mathiang went on to sign early decision scholarships with Mississippi State University.
The Wallace State cross country team is always looking for students with an interest in running, even those who have no previous competition experience.
