The Wallace State golf program has been directed by Dan York since 1987.

In York's 23 years of leadership, the Wallace State golf team has made 15 NJCAA national tournament appearances, finishing runner-up in 1993 and 1996 and finishing third in 1995. York also guided his teams to state and region championships in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

The 2010 season was especially significant for York. He was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame and his team finished ninth in the nation as the Lions co-hosted the NJCAA National Tournament at Huntsville's Hampton Cove.

In July, his team was also named the top NJCAA Academic Team of the Year after compiling a nation-best 3.53 GPA. It was the third time the golf team earned the NJCAA top billing for its sport (2003-04, 2005-06, 2009-10).

Wallace State sent five freshmen to the national tournament in 2010 and all should play a bigger role in 2011. The five freshmen are Blaise Wilson, Andrew Lowry, Deane Rikard, Justin Cochran and Micah Jett.

York, a Cullman native and a Cullman County HOF member, has produced 13 NJCAA All-Americans and 27 Academic All-Americans.

At Wallace State, York has coached PGA Tour player and Ryder Cup member Brett Wetterich and PGA Tour member Frederick Jacobson. Others coached by York include: Gary Christian and Jonathan Frickie (Nationwide Tour) and Ian Steel and Michael Lundberg (European Tour).

Wetterich was also inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in May 2010.
