

The Wallace State golf program has been directed by NJCAA Hall of Fame coach Dan York since 1987.
In York's 24 years of leadership, the Wallace State golf team has made 16 NJCAA national tournament appearances, finishing runner-up in 1993 and 1996 and finishing third in 1995. York also guided his teams to state and region championships in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Wallace State golf finished tied for 16th in the nation during the 2011 NJCAA Division I national championship at Odessa, Texas after sitting alone as the top-ranked team in the nation last fall. The Lions were led by Blaise Wilson, Deane Rikard, Andrew Lowry, Conner Godsey and Brandon Beasley.
The 2010 season was especially significant for York. He was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame and his team finished ninth in the nation as the Lions co-hosted the NJCAA National Tournament at Huntsville's Hampton Cove.
In July 2010, his team was also named the top NJCAA Academic Team of the Year after compiling a nation-best 3.53 GPA. It was the third time the golf team earned the NJCAA top billing for its sport (2003-04, 2005-06, 2009-10).
York, a Cullman native and a Cullman County HOF member, has produced 13 NJCAA All-Americans and 27 Academic All-Americans.
At Wallace State, York has coached PGA Tour player and Ryder Cup member Brett Wetterich and PGA Tour member Fredrick Jacobson, who won the 2011 Travelers Championship in late June to collect his first PGA Tour victory. Jacobson, a Sweden native, won three events on the European Tour during his pro career before joining the PGA Tour in 2003.
Others coached by York include: Gary Christian and Jonathan Frickie(Nationwide Tour) and Ian Steel and Michael Lundberg (European Tour).
Wetterich was also inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in May 2010.
