The Wallace State Lady Lions fast pitch softball program is a national champion on the field and in the classroom. The Lady Lions captured the 2008 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I National Championship under head coach Jayne Clem and followed it with a national runner-up finish in 2009, falling one run short of back-to-back crowns.
Over the past two seasons, Wallace State has also compiled a 131-18 record (68-8 in 2008, 63-10 in 2009), captured two Alabama Community College Conference championships, and produced five combined National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 1st-Team All-Americans.
The Lady Lions were also ACCC champions in 2007, 2005 and 2003.
Wallace State's softball team has excelled academically as well. The team finished with a 3.72 grade point average for the 2008-09 academic year after posting a 3.61 GPA as the 2007-08 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.
Fast pitch softball at Wallace State dates back to 1997 and has been led by Coach Clem since 1999.
