In order to participate in online classes, you must have a computer with the ability to establish an Internet connection and basic understanding of computers and Internet navigation. Also, you must understand how to upload, download and attach files.
You will need a computer with personal access to the internet and Web-browser software, and the version of software that matches the text. Your connection to the internet should be something other than “dial-up”. Cable or DSL for example. A slow connection (dial-up) results in many problems. You may use Windows, 2000, or XP, MAC OS 8.0, or Linux operating systems. At this time, Vista is not compatible with Blackboard. In some instances, pop up avoidance software interferes with Blackboard and must be disabled.
Classes utilizing Blackboard begin the first week of the semester. It is your responsibility to buy the textbook(s), sign on to Blackboard, and begin assignments during the first week of classes. Computer problems are not excuses for missed work. Computer labs are available on campus should you experience an unexpected problem.
