Important Information for Students Recieving Federal VA Benefits

Alabama GI & Dependents' Benefits
Provides tuition, fees, and book assistance for eligible children, widows, and spouses of Alabama veterans.

Veterans' Educational Benefits
Chapter 30/31/34-30 combination.  Provides educational assistance to eligible veterans of the armed forces.

Alabama National Guard Educational Benefits
Provides financial educational assistance to eligible members of the National Guard.

The goal of the Veterans' Representative is to ensure prompt delivery of veterans' educational entitlements to all eligible enrolled students.  A student receiving any of these financial assistance is responsible for the following:

Prior to the beginning of each semester that Federal VA entitlements are used, you should confirm your enrollment by providing us with a printout of your class schedule.  A printout will enable certification of your enrollment at the earliest possible time.

Notification of any changes in your enrollment status - reducing total enrolled hours below full-time, increasing enrollment from less that full-time to full-time, or changing your declared major.

Enroll in courses that meet requirements of your educational objective as listed in the appropriate programs catalog.  If you are enrolling in a remedial, or refresher courses, you should provide us with a statement from your department chairperson that substantiates the necessity for your enrollment in such courses.  Course substitution must also be approved by the department chairperson in writing for the veteran's file.

You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards in order to receive payment of VA educational entitlement.
