Admission Requirements - Medical Coding Certificate (MCC)

To be eligible for acceptance into the Medical Coding Certificate (MCC) Program, the following must be submitted to the Health Care Information Programs Director by June 15th:

  • A completed HCI Program Application
  • A copy of *COMPASS test scores showing a Reading score of at least 76 taken within the three years prior to program application
  • An unofficial copy of college transcripts if previous college courses have been taken.
  • If no college courses have been taken, a copy of high school transcripts

Students must also arrange an interview (in person, via email or telephone) with a MCC Program advisor prior to June 15th.

*Only the Reading score on the COMPASS is required for MCC Program admission, but taking all sections of the COMPASS is now a requirement of admission to Wallace State, unless you have passed math and English courses at the college level.  Your scores on the additional sections of the COMPASS test will not affect your standing in the MCC Program.
