The college honors program will provide outstanding undergraduates with opportunities to develop intellectual agility and professional honesty in an environment that integrates academics, service learning, and cultural enrichment. Honors Scholars will be a special group of high-achieving students who are seeking an intellectually challenging and creative college experience.

Guidelines for admission to the Honors Scholar Program


Students must apply and be admitted to the College Honors Program.


INCOMING FULL TIME STUDENTS

OTHER STUDENTS

Dual-enrollment students may be provisionally admitted to the honors program with actual entrance into the program the fall semester that they begin full-time enrollment, provided they continue to meet other admission requirements. Dual-enrollment courses are not eligible for honors designation. Promotion into the honors program may be possible for current full-time students, as space allows, if they successfully complete two honors courses, maintain a 3.5 grade point overall, and submit letters of recommendation. 

Program requirements for graduation as an Honors Scholar 

Honors courses

    Students will “contract” for a course to have an “H,” or honors, designation. The Honors Scholar Program Committee, the department head, and the director of the program will develop guidelines and will work with instructors to approve courses and guarantee consistency in honors level credit of courses across the curriculum.

  • Qualify for College Honors Program tuition scholarship
  • Entitled to WSCC bookstore stipend of $200 per year ($100 per semester). Note: this stipend is contingent upon funding
