Welcome to Transitional Learning!
The Transitional Learning Department here at Wallace State began in the fall semester of 2006 and is currently located on the 7th floor of the Tom Bevill Building. Cindy Mallard is the director and math instructor of the department and works closely with her teammate Heather Congo who teaches English and Reading. Wallace State has always prided itself on being a student centered college, and the Transitional Learning Department was created to further uphold this mission. The term "transitional" was coined in order to replace "remedial." It is important for all transitional students to know that this department was designed to transition students from one phase of thier academic career and personal goals into the next step in their lives. Transitional students are no less capable and have no less potential than other students. With the help of the Transitional Learning Department our students can become productive and successful in mainstream college life.
