Welcome to fall semester at Wallace State Community College!
We are in the midst of a banner year of student achievement – celebrating New Century Scholar Austin Monk, Skills USA National Champion Joey Foster, runner-up national champion Lady Lions Softball Team, and many other academic and athletic accomplishments. Our students are living lives less ordinary, and we are committed to empowering them.
This fall, students at Wallace State will find many exciting new developments on campus–from the opening of the new Ottis and Evelyn Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts to a fully renovated Bevill Center housing many of our health science programs. Gateway to Wallace State, Structured Learning Assistance Classes, Learning Communities, Transitional Learning, Upward Bound, and Tech-Prep are among our newest initiatives. Several new programs have also recently been introduced including Therapeutic Massage, Gerontology, Culinary Arts and Electroneurodiagnostic Technology. The Automotive Complex, Heating and Air Conditioning program, and the Electronics and Drafting building have all received recent renovations to provide state-of-the-art environments for learning.
When you enroll at Wallace State, you have limitless opportunities for education and personal growth, from earning a degree on campus to transferring to a university. Students are the reason we exist, and we place student learning and achievement at the forefront of our activities and initiatives. We are a leader in the state in serving high school students through dual enrollment, early college enrollment, and tech prep programs as well as our on-campus Fast Track Academy. Our licensure and job placement rates rank at or above state and national averages, and students score above the national average on the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Performance. Wallace State students who continue their education at the university level do exceedingly well, performing at or above the levels of students who began there. The quality of our academic success has led to a number of universities offering special articulation agreements and bachelor’s degree programs on campus.
