As a student, you will regularly access several tools to help you manage your courses and your student account. Let’s take a look at some of them.
- MyWallaceState student account. Manage the business of your college experience here. Use it to keep your contact information up to date, register for classes, access financial aid, make payments, and view and make changes to your school schedule.
- Blackboard Learn. Blackboard is the college’s course management system. Use it to access course materials, complete assignments, and connect with your instructors.
- Wallace State email. This is where the college will communicate with you about college information. Check it regularly for important college news as well as specific details about your student account, academics, financial aid, and connections with your Success Advisor.

Blackboard Learn is your first stop for online learning. Blackboard contains your course syllabus, calendar, course content, college resources, instructor contact information, and more. With Blackboard, you can access your course content anywhere and anytime. Blackboard is accessible from the Wallace State website. Look for the “Bb” button right next to the MyWallaceState and email buttons.

If you’re a new student this semester, you will gain access to Blackboard within two business days of completing your course registration. Log in to Blackboard using your A# as your username and a default password that is comprised of !ACCS plus your date of birth in MMDDYY format.
Example, if your birthdate is 5/3/1999, then your password would be !ACCS050399.
If you’re a returning student this semester, log in to Blackboard using your A# as your username. The password will be the same password you used in the previous semester for Blackboard and for email.
If you receive an error message when you attempt to log in, doublecheck your login and password information. If you are unable to log in after confirming your information, send a message to email@example.com .
It’s important to connect to your courses right away when the semester begins. Plan to log in to Blackboard on the very first day of the semester. Confirm that each of your courses is part of your Blackboard account. Review the course requirements, make note of any immediate assignments, and complete any attendance verification requests.
When you open Blackboard on a computer, the first thing you’ll find is your personal Activity Stream. This is where you’ll find news and updates from the college.
To access your courses, click the “Courses” link in the left side navigation. Blackboard courses are like classrooms. Each course will include some standard tools and information, but each course is also unique. Take time to learn about each of your online courses.
Your course syllabus is one of your most important tools. Read it carefully. Consider printing it to have as a resource even when you are not online. Some courses also include course calendars and assignment lists. As you navigate through your course content, you will learn more about the organization of each course. Reach out to your instructor when questions come up. Your instructor will note his or her preferred contact method in the course syllabus.
A Blackboard app is available for mobile devices. The app is an excellent resource for course information, grades, due dates and more. Much of your work can be completed on a mobile device, but not all of it. Some assignments, quizzes, and exams may require a computer.
Use your MyWallaceState account to register for classes, view your course schedule, access personal and financial aid information, make payments and access your academic plan through DegreeWorks.
View your course schedule and make necessary payments through your MyWallaceState account. This is where you will manage the business of your time at Wallace. To view fees and payment information, login to your account. Select the Student Tab. From the menu, choose “Student Account.” To make a payment, choose “Payment Processing.” To view current charges, select “Account Detail for Term.”
To view your course schedule, first select the Student Tab. From the menu, choose “Registration.” Then select “Student Schedule.”
Some students choose to gather all course materials prior to the first day of classes. Others wait until after their first class meeting or after they log in to their online class for the first time. There are benefits to both methods; that decision is up to you.
The quickest way to know what materials are required for your class is to use visit the Wallace State Bookstore online or in person. From the Textbook link at the top of the page, choose Find Textbooks. You will need your course list to get started. Find your course list in your MyWallaceState student account.
If you utilize financial aid, view that information through the Financial Aid Tab of your MyWallaceState account. Be sure to select the correct aid year. Aid years are like school years, beginning in the fall and continuing through the following summer. It is important to review your financial aid account regularly to ensure that all available aid has been applied to your account and that your progress remains in good standing with the college.
When your application for admission has been processed and your proof of ID has been received in the Office of Admissions and Records, you are assigned a Wallace State email address. Your email account will remain active while you are a current student. The college will communicate with you primarily through this college email account. Follow the instructions here to find your Student Email Address.
New student email passwords are the same as the MyWallaceState password.
Get into a habit of checking this email on a regular basis. Access your student email at https://login.microsoftonline.com/ .
With your email, you also gain access to Office 365. This is free resource for current Wallace State students includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more.
The Center for Student Success is your go-to source for everything related to student success. Success Advisors provide academic advising and connect you to campus and community resources. Meet your Success Advisor as soon as you begin your academic journey.
Virtual Student Services. Staff members are available to help with a variety of questions. Connect to all areas of student services: Recruitment, admissions, Financial Aid, Advising/Testing, Tutorial Lab/Special Populations, Student Engagement, TRIO-Student Support Services), TRIO-Talent Search, Student Conduct, and Title IX.
Free Tutoring. Schedule an appointment or stop by the tutoring lab for academic support. In-person and virtual options are available. Tutoring is also available online 24/7 through Upswing. See details on the Tutoring Lab website.
Library. The Wallace State Library provides a wide variety of learning resources for students, faculty, and the community.
