Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Center for Career and Workforce Development will host Industry Comes to Wallace State on April 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Bailey Center.

Industry Comes to Wallace State is a monthly event series that allows businesses in North Central Alabama to connect with WSCC students in programs that may be relevant to the roles they are hiring for. Employers scheduled to be present during the April 11 event include Velocity Truck Center, Penske Truck Rentals, U.S. Pipe, MGX Equipment Services, CBRE Global Workplace Solutions and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott.

Tables will be set up in the Bailey Center Lobby for recruiters to display company materials and provide information to students. Recruiters will get the chance to chat with students one-on-one and answer employment questions before sharing a presentation in the Bailey Center Auditorium.

“At each event, employers from various industries deliver 15 to 20-minute presentations in our auditorium to targeted groups of students where they share details about their company and current job openings. After the presentations, employers engage with students, faculty and staff outside the auditorium. Each employer is invited to set up a table career fair-style where they can provide additional information and even hand out company swag,” said Christina Holmes, Director of Career Services and Work-Based Learning at Wallace State Community College. “Through these monthly professional interactions with employers, students have the opportunity to polish their networking skills on a regular basis.”

To reach students that may be most interested in the positions looking to be filled, the Career and Workforce Development invites specific Wallace State programs to attend the monthly series. The programs invited to this month’s event include Business, Electrical Technology/Mechatronics, Welding, Engineering Technology, Diesel Technology and Culinary Arts. While Industry Comes to Wallace State is a targeted recruiting event, all Wallace State students and alumni are welcome to attend.
