Wallace State’s School of Nursing and Center for Science offers the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art facilities for nursing students. The Department of Nursing Education earned the designation as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education from the National League for Nursing in 2016. The faculty and staff are dedicated to student excellence in every arena.

Pre-Register HERE for one of the Nursing Information Sessions
Attend an Information Session to learn about the nursing programs and receive one point towards admittance into the program.

Sessions will be held in-person in the WSCC Nursing Building on the following dates:

Admission to the Nursing Program is competitive; the number of students is limited by the number of faculty and clinical facilities available. 

After meeting all requirements, applicants are rank-ordered using a point system based on grades achieved in specific general education courses: ENG 101, BIO 201, BIO 202, and MTH 100, first-time enrollment in a nursing program, completion of nursing recommended information session, valid healthcare license or healthcare certificate or a bachelor’s or higher degree, and minimum ACT composite score.

Meeting minimal requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Please review your pathway of interest below under Program of Study for specific requirements.

Programs of Study

Evening On Campus Program

Wallace State - Hanceville is excited to offer the first three semesters of the Traditional ADN Pathway as evening classes. Completing the first three semesters allows students to earn their Practical Nursing certificate and sit for the licensure exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Completing the final two semesters, students will earn their Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Students are then eligible to sit for the licensure exam to become a registered nurse.

Mobility Nursing for RN

Who may apply:  Students who have been awarded an AAS Degree and are currently licensed as an Emergency Medical Services-Paramedic, Diagnostic Imaging, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Medical Laboratory Technician, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapist or awarded a certificate and licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama.

Wallace State Community College’s (WSCC) Department of Nursing Education has joint enrollment agreement with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) that allows Wallace State students a seamless pathway from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree in nursing.The program will take nine semesters to complete.

Students are required to complete four semesters of academic coursework before applying to both Wallace State and UAB in advance of the fifth semester. Classes for the last five semesters would be completed concurrently at the Wallace State-Hanceville campus and online through UAB.

Reinstatement to Program

  • Reinstatement day for Summer 2024 will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024, beginning promptly @ 8 AM in Nursing building. 
  • ​Clinical attire, along with student ID badge, must be worn.  Bring your skills lab pack.
  • You will receive a schedule of your activities when you arrive in the building.
  • If you have a temperature or do not feel well do not come to reinstatement.  Immediately call 256-352-8199 or email nursingapplicant@wallacestate.edu in order to notify the appropriate faculty.
