
Our staff is dedicated to working with area business and industry to meet their specific training needs. We have scheduled a variety of training courses for this semester. If one of these scheduled courses does not meet your company’s training needs or requirements, one of our staff will be glad to work with you to develop one that does. Specially designed classes are monitored by our staff in conjunction with a company representative to ensure that employees reach the company’s stated training outcome.
Wallace State Community College is prepared to conduct training at the times and locations convenient for our Business and Industry partners. SHORT TERM SKILLS TRAINING

AUTOCAD FUDNAMENTALS
Instructor: Jimmy Hodges
This course is designed for students with little or no computer aided design and drafting software experience. Practice drawings are used extensively to demonstrate use of commands and to provide the student with topic-specific drawings for hands-on experience. Topics include applications; creating, storing and retrieving predefined components; placing rotation and scaling components; modifying, rubber banding; adding text and dimensions to drawings, multi-layering drawings, girds, orthogonal mode; data storage format for writing auxiliary programs; input and output devices; resolution and physical limitations.

SHORT-TERM WELDING
Instructor: TBA
This 225-hour course provides basic instruction in oxy-fuel cutting (torch cutting) and the student's choice of shielded metal arc welding (stick welding), MIG wire welding process or TIG process.
Schedule: Monday-Wednesday, 5:30pm-9:30pm (enroll at any time)
Fee: $2,000, WIA approved

TRUCK DRIVING CERTIFICATE

A four week instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles, for-hire vehicles, and other commercial vehicles.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday. Call for dates
Fee: $1,600 + $200 testing fee and $4 liability insurance fee. WIA approved

CUSTOMIZED CONSTRUCTION TRAINING - FREE TUITION FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY
Choose from Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Masonry, Plumbing or Welding
Must be 18 by the time of employment.

WATER MANGEMENT CERTIFICATE
Instructor: Wendy Waldrop
This course prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills for use in water storage, water power and water-water treatment systems. Instruction in water storage, power and /or treatment systems and equipment; appropriate testing and inspection procedure; appropriate system maintenance procedure; and report preparation.

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH (ONLINE)
Online, self-paced, based on Adult Education principles. Work on the course at your own convenience. Start and stop any lesson any time to fit your schedule. Courses are active for 120 days (four months). Courses are not teacher led. No prior knowledge or Spanish is necessary.

SERVSAFE TEST-PREP & CERTIFICATION COURSE
Instructor: Chris Villa
Participants will gain valuable knowledge in the following areas: sanitation, the flow of food, purchasing and receiving, storing foods, safety, food preparation, facilities and equipment, regulatory agencies and inspection, and crisis management. The program is designed specifically for food-handling employees of restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, daycares, and other food service professionals. The intensive 8-hour courses are conducted in two consecutive sessions, ending wth the certification exam (must attend both classes to test). It will be required in some counties over the next few years. Check with your local health department for specifics.
Class Schedule: All courses are on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30pm-7:30pm

HEALTH SHORT-TERM TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
Instructors: Rhonda Ryan, RN and Krista Phillips, RN
Certified nursing assistants (CNA) work at the direction of nurses to provide basic patient care and play a critical role in successful health care by extending the capability of nurses and doctors to provide better patient care. CNA classes will train individuals to assess patient needs, to interact effectively with the patient, and to make observations regarding a patient's condition and state of mind.

This course is designed to train individuals to collect quality blood samples properly from patients and interact with health care personnel.

Registration for Training for Existing Business and Industry classes is required at least two weeks prior to class start date. Insufficient enrollment may result in course cancellation. REFUND POLICY
It is our policy that NO REFUNDS will be issued one week prior to an individual class or the first class in a series. However, if we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, fees will be reimbursed or student may select another class to attend based on space availability.
