Wallace State HIT program ranked among Top 50 in nation

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Health Information Technology program has earned a position among the Top 50 Medical and Coding programs by Intelligent.com, a resource for online degree rankings and higher education planning.

The Top 50 Medical and Coding Programs for 2021 is a comprehensive research guide based on an assessment of 162 accredited colleges and universities in the nation. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment.

The 2021 rankings are calculated through a unique scoring system which includes student engagement, potential return on investment and leading third-party evaluations. Intelligent.com analyzed 162 schools, on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 50 making it to the final list. Along with making the Top 50 list, Wallace State’s program was recognized as having the best student-faculty ratio.

The Health Information Technology program at Wallace State Community College is a six-semester degree program that, with the exception of the professional practice experience courses, can be completed online. Students enrolled in the HIT degree program earn stackable certificates throughout the program, including medical coding.

The program now has one point of entry, meaning that all students now apply for admission to the Health information Technology Degree program. Full-time students will earn the medical coding certificate after 5 semesters. Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2021.  Applications will be accepted through June 1.
