Event opens doors to learn about Workforce Training Center

Wallace State Community College’s Center for Career and Workforce Development is opening the doors to its new Workforce Training Center to anyone who would like to learn more about how the facility can be utilized for individual and group training.

Pro Skills Night: Shaping Careers, Crafting Futures is the name of the special event that is open to everyone from individuals to business and industry representatives. Those attending will learn all the ways the center can assist them in upskilling, professional development, entering the workforce, career change or finding a career that best fits them. The event will be held on Monday, March 11 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Workforce Training Center on the campus of REHAU.

“This event is a great opportunity for anyone from individuals looking to enter the workforce or those seeking to advance in their career by learning new skills to area businesses and industries who are looking for ways to provide professional development or upskilling to their current employees, whether that’s just a location to hold an event or full facilitation of instruction,” said Suzanne Harbin, Vice President for Advancement and Innovation. “The centralized location of the Workforce Training Center and its amenities make it an attractive setting for anyone seeking its services.”

A tentative agenda for the evening includes a presentation at 5:30 p.m. to introduce Work Based Learning programs, Career Services such as career exploration, resume preparation, job placement and more. Workforce Course Offerings will be introduced, such as CDL, healthcare, manufacturing, etc., as well as listing which have scholarships available or are free of charge. Skills for Success, Leadership Training, Ed2Go and other personal enrichment courses, professional testing, customized training and Adult Education will also be discussed.

These workforce offerings are available to anyone, no high school diploma or GED required. There are even options for high school students.

Networking opportunities will begin after the presentation, with representatives from all programs there at their respective table for FAME, Diesel by Distance, Career Services, CDL, Phlebotomy and more available for questions.

Following networking, enrollment assistance will be available for anyone wishing to sign up for courses, take a career assessment and more. Light refreshments will be provided during the event.
