Rebekah Clay, Allie Bess Chenault, Tahauny Cleghorn and ReAnna Rusk rehearse a scene from Wallace State Theatre’s upcoming production of Little Women: The Musical.
Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College Theatre Department will present Little Women: The Musical Friday through Sunday, April 11-13, 2025, at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre inside
Garlan E. Gudger Sr., Student Center.

Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women: The Musical follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell
her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor
Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly
taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience
growing up in Civil War America.

“I have loved the story of Little Women since childhood. Jo March (and by extension Louisa May Alcott) was a woman ahead
of her time, and her desires and dreams are still so recognizable and universal,”
said Angela Green, Wallace State’s Theatre program director. “I believe audiences,
whether they have read the novel or not, will find relatable thoughts, feeling and
actions in all of these characters. And the beautifully written score helps give more
insight to these characters and their situations while also entertaining and enlightening
                        all who attend the show.”
