Wallace State brings homes 40 medals from Alabama SkillsUSA

Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College brought home 40 medals from the Alabama SkillsUSA Leadership Conference, Championships and Career Expo held last week in Mobile. More than half of the medals won were gold medals at 25, followed by nine silver medals and six bronze medals. Gold medalist winners advance to the National Leadership Conference and SkillsUSA Championship to be held June 23-28 in Atlanta, Ga.

“We are extremely proud of all of our students who competed at SkillsUSA,” said Jerry Murcks, Dean of Applied Technologies at Wallace State. “Students prepare long and hard for the events and each of them are to be commended for their efforts. Participation in SkillsUSA is a great training ground for our students to use the skills they have learned at Wallace State and that they will use in their respective fields.”

Wallace State students had multiple medalists in seven categories, including a sweep in the Diesel Equipment category.

Chaden Hill of Eva won a gold medal in Electronics Technology.

Esthetics
