MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Wallace State men’s soccer showed resilience on Wednesday afternoon, clawing back to earn a 1-1 draw on the road against Georgia Military College.
The Lions fell behind in the first half after Georgia Military scored off a free kick, but responded with poise and determination in the second half. The breakthrough came when Javier Rivera Miranda calmly converted a penalty kick, leveling the match at 1-1 and giving Wallace State momentum down the stretch.
Head coach James Fee praised his team’s response. “We played well today. Even after going down early, the guys stayed composed and fought their way back. That’s a big step for us on the road,” Fee said.
Wallace State’s midfield was anchored by Santiago Acosta, who impressed with his physical play, consistently winning challenges and helping the Lions maintain possession against a strong GMC side. Along with Miranda, Juan Gazga, Kenneth Thompson, and Giovanni Martino each logged a full 90 minutes, showing endurance and leadership in a hard-fought contest.
The tie continues Wallace State’s stretch of competitive early-season matches as they build toward conference play.
The Lions return home on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. when they host Itawamba Community College in Hanceville.
