Wallace State Flag Football Defeats Shelton State 31-7 in Conference Play

MILLBROOK, Ala. — Wallace State women’s flag football continued its strong start to
conference play with a 31-7 victory over Shelton State on Saturday at 17 Springs.
The Lions struck first when quarterback Emma Kile capped an opening drive with a 2-yard
rushing touchdown. Kile added to the lead in the second quarter, connecting with Mariah
Ragland for a 19-yard touchdown pass that gave Wallace a 12-0 advantage at halftime.
Wallace came out firing in the third quarter, with Kile and Ragland hooking up again,
this time for a 48-yard strike that stretched the lead to 18-0. Shelton State responded
with a 4-yard touchdown pass and successful conversion to cut the margin to 18-7.
The Lions pulled away in the final period. Kile found Taylor Kindred on a 3-yard touchdown
toss early in the fourth and later hit Telicia Ransom from 2 yards out to close the
scoring.
Kile finished with a standout performance, completing 29-of-47 passes for 266 yards,
four touchdowns, and one interception. Ragland led the receivers with seven catches
for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Kindred added seven receptions for 47 yards and
a score, while Maryland Williams (43 yards), Destinee Ealy (40 yards), and Ransom
(27 yards, one touchdown) also contributed.
Defensively, Wallace dominated the line of scrimmage and forced four Buccaneer turnovers.
Williams had three sacks, while Ruby Perez Arriaga and Carley Paschal each recorded
one. Kindred and Jayla Rudolph came up with interceptions to cap the effort.
In total, the Lions tallied 276 yards of offense while limiting Shelton State to just
68 yards.
