Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will host an open house at its new Winston County Community Learning Center on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Learning Center is located at 360 Helicon Road in Arley.

The event will provide area residents the opportunity to explore career and educational opportunities offered at the facility through the Center for Career and Workforce Development (CCWD). Programs include phlebotomy, fiber optics, CDL training, customer service and more. Adult Education classes for individuals seeking to earn their GED will also be offered at the center.

“We are very excited about the new Learning Center and the doors it will open for residents in and around Winston County,” said Suzanne Harbin, Vice President of Advancement and Innovation. “We hope this is just the beginning of great things to come.”

Attendees will have the chance to meet instructors and staff, tour the facility and learn about opportunities. They can also observe a phlebotomy class in session, offering a firsthand look at the hands-on training available at the center.

Patti Wilkins, director of Wallace State’s Adult Education program, encourages anyone with interest in GED classes to stop and speak with her during the open house.

In addition to career training, the new center will also offer Community Education courses designed to help residents explore new hobbies and skills. A lineup of classes is currently being developed and will launch in the new year. The center also includes a computer lab that is open to current Wallace State students who may need access to computers or the internet for their coursework.
