Wallace State Completes Perfect Season, Claims Inaugural ACCC Flag Football Championship

Wallace State Community College's Flag Football team claimed the 2025 ACCC Flag Football Championship during the inaugural season.
DOTHAN, Ala. — A dream that began less than a year ago became reality on Sunday as Wallace State flag football captured the inaugural Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Flag Football Championship with a commanding 27–6 win over Shelton State at Rip Hewes Stadium. The top-seeded Lions closed out their first-ever season with a flawless 20-0 record, showcasing the same balance, chemistry, and grit that defined their historic run.
Head coach Daniel Howard reflected on the significance of the milestone moment for his young program.
“This championship was a culmination of a lot of dreams that started when we formed the team. Those dreams continued to grow when we recruited our players. They came together as a team focused on a mission. Today’s win is a testament to my players’ willingness to do what it takes to earn the championship.”
The Lions set the tone early with a bold fourth-down conversion late in the first quarter. Facing pressure, quarterback Emma Kile connected with Mariah Ragland on a 36-yard strike down the sideline, putting Wallace on top 7–0. Early in the second quarter, Kile extended the lead to 14–0 with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Ma'Kyla Williams.
Shelton State momentarily seized momentum with a 16-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 14–6, but Wallace State answered with championship poise. Just before halftime, Kile found tournament MVP Taylor Kindred in the corner of the end zone for a five-yard score, giving the Lions a 20–6 advantage at the break.
Wallace State’s defense controlled the second half, setting the stage for the knockout blow early in the fourth quarter. On the second play of the quarter, Kile dumped a short pass to Telecia Ransom, who sliced through the Buccaneers’ defense for an 18-yard touchdown to push the lead to 27–6.
From there, the Lions dominated the clock and the field, finishing with 330 yards of total offense while limiting Shelton State to just 87 yards.
Kile was outstanding once again, completing 30 of 45 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns. Ragland led all receivers with nine catches for 114 yards and a score, while Kindred added seven receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. Ransom totaled five catches for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Maggie Patterson contributed four receptions for 77 yards.
Defensively, Williams delivered a championship-level performance with three sacks, and Jayla Rudolph recorded a key interception.

Kindred was named Tournament MVP after a stellar two-game weekend in which she finished with 18 catches for 121 yards, two touchdowns, and a game-saving interception in the semifinal win over Snead State.
With the victory, Wallace State not only secures the first ACCC flag football title but establishes itself as the premier program in the conference—perfect, poised, and already historic.
