Wallace State Men Rally Late for 75–72 Road Win at Gadsden State

GADSDEN, Ala. — Wallace State men's basketball continued its strong start to conference play Monday night, rallying late to secure a hard-fought 75–72 road victory over Gadsden State.

The Lions controlled much of the opening half, building a double-digit lead and dictating the pace on both ends of the floor. Gadsden State closed the gap in the final minutes of the half, but Wallace State still carried a 40–38 advantage into the break.

The second half turned into a back-and-forth battle as both teams traded runs and jockeyed for control. Gadsden State held the lead for much of the half and pushed its advantage to six points with under four minutes remaining. Once again, Wallace State showed poise down the stretch, rallying to regain the lead inside the final minute and making the defensive stops needed to seal the three-point win.

Wallace State held off multiple late Gadsden State attempts, using disciplined defense and rebounding to close out the victory.

The Lions controlled the glass throughout the night, outrebounding the Cardinals 38–33, and made their presence felt defensively by forcing 14 turnovers, including 10 steals.

Viczavious Madden led Wallace State with another strong performance, posting a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while adding an assist, a steal and a block. Austin Davenport followed with 14 points and six rebounds, and Jaeden Rush contributed 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Kylen Clark added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Trey Knight chipped in 10 points, three assists and three steals. Tyson Barrett rounded out the scoring with eight points and seven rebounds.

With the win, Wallace State continues to build momentum in ACCC play and heads back home later this week.

Up Next: Wallace State returns home Thursday to host Southern Union (6–12, 1–1). The Bisons are coming off a 93–87 win over Bishop State and are led by Khalon Johnson (19.7 points per game), Isaiah Dennis (18.6 ppg) and Don Tinsley (18.2 ppg). The teams last met in the ACCC Championship Game a season ago, a 98–90 Wallace State victory.
