Wallace State to Present Spring Under the Stars and Stripes Concert

Spring Under the Stars and Stripes

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States with its Spring Under the Stars and Stripes concert on Thursday, April 23. 

The free concert will feature performances from the college’s Performing Arts ensembles, including the Wallace State Concert Choir, Singers, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble. Theatre and Pride Line. 

“We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a night of music in the great outdoors,” said Ricky Burks, chair of the Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts programs. “Bring a lawn chair or blanket and sit back to enjoy a collection of songs from performances held this year and special presentations planned for the anniversary of the birth of our nation.”

Burks also encouraged those planning to attend to bring their appetite as several food trucks will be on hand to serve guests. Food vendors scheduled to be in attendance include Johnny’s BBQ, Stephen’s Hot Dog Wagon, Frios Gourmet Pops and Farmhouse Coffee. 

The concert is scheduled to be held outside the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. In the event of rain, the performances will be moved inside the center. 

Other upcoming performances planned by Wallace State Fine and Performing Arts include:

  • Broadway Night, April 30
  •  I Am a Pilgrim, July 23-25

Two performing arts programs will be holding auditions next month. The Wallace State Singers and the Wallace State Pride Line dance team will hold auditions on Saturday, May 2. The Singers auditions will be held at 10 a.m., and the Pride Line dance team will hold auditions from 1 to 4 p.m. All auditions will be held in the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
