CNAAbout the Course
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course at Wallace State provides the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to assist patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. CNAs provide direct care, including bathing, feeding, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily activities under the supervision of licensed nurses.

This course combines classroom instruction with clinical experience, allowing students to practice patient care, infection control, and proper documentation. Students also develop essential communication skills for working effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. The course consists of 75 contact hours which includes 16 clinical hours that prepare students for both the written and skills portions of the CNA exam.

It also provides a strong foundation for those looking to apply to Wallace State’s Nursing program, equipping students with key skills for further healthcare education.

Admission Requirements
Participants must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid driver’s license, as well as a high school diploma or GED, to enroll in this course.

Preparation for the CNA Exam

Graduates of this program are prepared to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment program (NNAAP) exam. Training is aligned with state exam requirements, giving students the skills and confidence needed to pass the exam and be listed on the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry, expanding employment opportunities.
